# Components:

→ Waffles

01 - 1 cup all-purpose flour
02 - 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
03 - 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
04 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
05 - 1 cup whole milk
06 - 2 large eggs
07 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
08 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Caramelized Apples

09 - 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
10 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
11 - 2 tablespoons brown sugar
12 - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
13 - Pinch salt

→ Caramel Sauce

14 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar
15 - 2 tablespoons water
16 - 1/4 cup heavy cream
17 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
18 - 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (optional)

# Directions:

01 - Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer’s instructions. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat together milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Pour wet ingredients into dry and combine just until smooth. Cook batter in preheated waffle iron until crisp and golden brown. Repeat to make 8 waffles.
02 - Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add apple slices, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring often, until apples become tender and caramelized, approximately 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
03 - In a small saucepan, combine granulated sugar and water over medium heat. Cook without stirring until sugar develops a deep amber color, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat and, using caution, whisk in heavy cream and butter (mixture will bubble vigorously). Stir in sea salt if desired. Allow sauce to cool slightly before using.
04 - Arrange half of the waffles on a serving plate. Top each waffle with a generous portion of caramelized apples and drizzle with warm caramel sauce. Place remaining waffles on top to create sandwiches. Serve immediately, offering additional caramel sauce on the side if preferred.
